The snow is not letting up…..and it is still mild. Lake ice is still slushy under the weight of all that snow!
The Parks Safety crew shut down the trails crossing the avalanche path. We cannot use that access with our sled/groomer and the lake is impassible also. Now we are hoping for really cold temps to freeze things up(unfortunately)—so we can access the fan loop. Ski the Connector in the meantime.

The snow has eased up and fresh tracks for everyone on the first day of 2014!

Kicking Horse Fire Road, Tally Ho to Field Info, Emerald Connector, and the Horse Trail and Alluvial Fan were ALL done yesterday. Takkakaw is still ski set only. Enjoy and Happy New Year, skiers.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SLUSH IS PRETTY THICK IN SPOTS ON EMERALD LAKE. Please stay to the shore trails which were refreshed Dec. 24.—the East side of Emerald was also tracked and Hans groomed the hill back to the parking lot via Peaceful Pond.
Use caution going across the AVALANCHE AREA always!
Soon as we get some colder temperatures we will hopefully be able to set a track on the lake again.

Nice walking trail around the lake [ Hans was  working on it ] , the Connector is even better with an optional side trip into the Narnia Wardrobe , but no Witches . Loraine  says the KH fire road is Good , and I think there’s a fresh track on ‘ The Fan ‘ and more snow on the way and may be some nice weather for X mas.

Good for early season careful on the  hills , I’ll try to make up some ‘CAUTION’ signs to remind you to slow down before its too late !

I got it fairly good all the way to the Info [  ! take your skis off to cross the hiway & parking lot fer x-mas sake ! ]  AND the other tracks should be good , now I have to go and track test them!   ps; I hear whispers of possible grooming on Tak Falls Rd. soon …
