Yes skiers—you can now come to Emerald Lake and to the Natural Bridge and actually be able to park your car safely while you ski. The grater and big loader was out today and moved tons of snow.
We also had a groomer find the Alluvial Fan again—he grated the Emerald Lake trails and also the Connector. He set a track on the Connector to the Nat. Bridge. As far as I know—no track at Emerald yet —just packing(which is great in ALL that snow). We got a break in the weather just in time to enjoy the close to full moon and maybe some sun too.
This Thursday at 8 pm is the MOON LIGHT SKI at Emerald. Skee you there.

Another dump!
Yes—another foot of snow! And 8 trees down on the Horse Trail! which our back up track setter Joe made short work of. And– we had some troopers today. Helen Reid skied from town to the picnic table on the KH and then up the Amiskiwi a ways and then up to Emerald !! With no fresh tracks and wild winds. She jus made it in time to bring me a box of ???? something for Hans. And our # 1 member of the year–purchased in Sept. 2013—Dominic Bartl was out—to his amazement at the snow—to snowshoe through the lovely stuff.
We’ll get a track down eventually—-the highway is closed due to avalanches—just enjoy where your are. Cheers, MT
SNORKEL ANYONE??
John packed and then tracked the Horsetrail, Fan, Connector all the way to Field. Not to mention snorkle-ing all the way and avoiding tree bombs!!!!
It was a full on day with the foot or more of new heavy snow we got. He found a bit of slush on the lake(only did the connection to Horse Trail on the lake) so beware.
So we got enough for skiers to enjoy—the rest will get done whenever???
Tracks on the lake
Lake now has tracks on it, most of the slushy areas now mostly ok.
Watch out for icy sections. With lots of snow in the forecast plan on refreshing the tracks on the Aluvian Fan and Horse trail on Thursday.

January 5th ski
Temperatures dropped drastically—to -20 but the trails are setting up great! Did a short ski AROUND the lake and used the frozen skidoo track loop for the first time—to avoid the avalanche area. It was sketchy with all that uneven ice but the last of the slush on that wee section should be all frozen with todays cold snap. The track on the East side was lovely. Still one tree down when you go up towards Peaceful Pond. It is just near the base of the junction where you snowshoe towards the lodge. PLEASE BE CAREFUL —especially on that fast downhill if you are skiing counter clockwise. It can be avoided but tricky !!! Hans widened all the hill so now you can herringbone or snow plough or walk. Still pretty fast hills !
Slab avalanche off the very right gully on Emerald Peak likely triggered by ski touring group after they were above it(luckily). We called it in to dispatch and the helicopter and avalanche rescue investigated. No one was hurt. Please avoid the AVI PATH for your own safety. Hopefully we will be able to set a track on the lake soon.
